It was a broadcast event like no other before. Carlo’s TV Cafe hit the airwaves of the leading Dutch commercial TV channel, RTL4, on November 22, 2015—the first-ever live broadcast to use remote-controlled cloud production. The very next day, Voetbal Inside became the second cloud-produced live broadcast.

The studio and all essential parts of the production were connected via IP to DutchView Infostrada’s data center through a unique fiber optic network, while our new cloud production suite delivered complete control over every aspect. With centralized resources delivering more efficient sharing and more sustainable utilization, producers were able to focus entirely on the quality of programming.

“It was quite exciting to be the first shows ever to be aired live in the Cloud, and it was a huge success,” said Mark de Vink, Business Manager at RTL Netherlands Productions. “Cloud production is more efficient than any other solution. We minimize resources to those that are strictly necessary for the duration of the recording. And because those resources are centralized, we need far fewer crew members on location. That also greatly reduces travel and accommodation costs.”
