At the beginning of this month, NEP supported Sunrise, Australia’s Number 1 breakfast television program broadcast on the Seven Network, during their Road Trip in USA. Over the course of five days, from August 31 through September 4, 2014, Seven Network broadcast five back-to-back live productions from five different cities across the United States: Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Fort Worth, Miami and New York.

“This project stemmed from an idea years ago and had been months in the planning,” says Michael Pell, Sunrise executive producer. “Logistically, it was the biggest thing we’ve ever attempted. Five cities in five days was a massive undertaking. But it went off without a hitch! And our viewers responded. It’s become one of our most watched on location OBs to date.”

With the industry’s largest pool of resources, NEP was able to manage the quick turnaround from city to city each day, thousands of miles apart, broadcasting live, 3 hours a day, for five days straight, and ensuring that the right equipment, crew and support was in place at each city. In addition to providing mobile production facilities, engineering and technical support in each location, NEP worked with the Sunrise team starting in the pre-planning stages to conduct site surveys, hire all crew and work with dozens of providers around the country to source power generators, JIB cranes, RF equipment, and lighting.

“Sunrise’s Road Trip was the perfect example of the benefit of NEP’s global network,” said NEP CEO Kevin Rabbitt. “Because we have resident experts in both Australia and the US, we were able to help the client bridge the gap and ensure a seamless transition of their production from their studio in Sydney to each location in the United States. We know the nuances on both sides of the ocean – which can help immensely when you work in a new location – especially when you have quick turn arounds, tight schedules and you are broadcasting live.”

During their Road Trip USA tour, Sunrise used NEP’s Indy, NCPVII, NCPXIV and Cobalt mobile units. For more information on NEP and their global network of broadcast & display solutions, visit www.nepinc.com.
