Sponsored by NEP Group, the first-ever Broadcast Sport Awards - an event reuniting the industry to celebrate an incredible year of sports productions – was held Nov. 3 at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

Extreme E, Aurora Media Worldwide’s new all-electric off-road racing series designed to highlight the climate crisis, was named “Sports Production of the Year”.

NEP Group, leading media technology partner for content creators around the globe, worked with Extreme E, host broadcaster Aurora Media Worldwide and North One to create a cutting-edge, sustainable broadcast solution that brought the first race, in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, into homes in 180 countries around the globe.

Ali Russell, Chief Marketing Officer at Extreme E, said: “As well as our production agencies at Aurora Media Worldwide and North One, I would like to give huge credit to NEP, Al Kamel Systems, Interstate Creative Partners and MPA Creative who have supported so well behind the scenes. This wouldn’t happen without the hard work and dedication of this very talented group.”

The honors continue for Aurora Media Worldwide's Extreme E. In October, Extreme E received the "Sustainability Award" at the Leaders Sports Awards. For their creative use of AR and VR, Extreme E received the "Sports Innovation Award" at the Broadcast Tech Awards in December.

While industry panels judged the main competition, Broadcast Sport readers voted on the “NEP Sports Moment of the Year”, with Tom Daley & Matty Lee’s gold-winning dive at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics winning the award.

Daley and Lee accepted the award remotely, thanking everyone involved.

Three other moments were shortlisted for the category: Dame Sarah Storey’s record-breaking 17th gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, Emma Raducanu’s winning serve at the U.S. Open and Harry Kane’s match-winning penalty during England vs. Denmark at Euro 2020.

NEP Group is proud to sponsor the inaugural Broadcast Sport Awards, recognizing the best of the sports broadcasting industry.
